BOTW - La Terraza

After yesterday's end-of-term drink-spree and that sleep-inducing butter chicken gobble-fest, I succumbed to an extended afternoon siesta that ended in a headache. I would spend the next few hours nursing that headache with 4 liters of water while lying down on my bed (payback from that long evening studying for my Accounting finals).

By 10pm I was fine... and I receive a message from Jungmin asking if I was joining Bar of the Week (BOTW) at La Terraza, located at Puerta 46 of Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. After some persuasion, I decided to go and headed off to the venue by midnight. Going to La Terraza felt a lot like going to a concert by some pop idol... here you are dressed up then entering the stadium via a back entrance with some expectation of a show. But here, I had little to no expectations~ but I have to say it was pretty impressive once I got there.

In the foreground, you would see people hanging out by the bar, music pumping in the background (although not that loud)... and in the actual, physical background, the stadium! In many ways, you felt like a VIP with your own box when you were there. Interestingly, La Terraza wasn't the only bar in the area. It was probably the 2nd of its kind in the stadium (as the per photo above, it was taken from the another bar. I wish I took photos of La Terraza; the photo above basically captures the spirit of the place).

La Terraza was packed like a can of sardines! It was impossible to go anywhere (as with most clubs~ and as exclaimed by Pablo when I met up with him an hour into maneuvering through the crowd). But it was ironic, in a way... you can barely move and yet, in the near distance, an expansive field where you can freely run around as much as your mind can wander. But the place being packed wasn't a surprise... since it was newly opened 2 weeks ago (June 15, 2013).

Drinks were expensive at 7 Euros a glass... of soft drink (yes, I veered away from alcohol that evening)! But at the end of the day, as per most rooftop bars or summer terraces, what you were truly paying for was the ambiance. I hung around for 2 hours exchanging chit chats with some of my new group mates then decided to head home from there.

As much as I wanted to stay last night, I wanted to get enough rest for today's main event... Skydiving (which I'll likely post stuff about tomorrow)! I wanted to bring my camera out last night to take better photos of the place but... I think I'll need it more today.

I still have 2 hours before we convene in front of the IE Library and grab a bus to the venue. Better grab lunch while I still can. When the reality sets in later I may not be able to stomach my meal!!!
