Korean Food in Madrid!

One can never have enough Korean food~ above: pajeon c/o Los Palillos del Cardenal!

Lydia and I talked about grabbing Korean food a couple of weeks back (actually, come think of it, it's been 5 weeks since we first spoke about it). And it's really because we miss Asian food a lot. She sent me a message earlier this morning to ask an Ethics-related question. I figured~ hey, we can probably talk about the Ethics thing over Korean food.

And so, the deal was done!

The map to the restaurant~ it's pretty nearby actually! (Map c/o Google Maps / edits c/o yours truly)
We met along Maria de Molina an hour later and headed over to Quevedo station via taxi. From there, we walked along Calle Fuencarral until we saw Citibank. We turned left from there and turned another left til we found the place. It wasn't my first time there actually. This place was introduced to me by my other Korean classmates in IE (Danny, Ben and Jay went there with me and Sohyun while she was in town).

More food from Maru! And yes, they had everything!
If you must know, this is actually the third time I've eaten Korean food this week. It comes as no surprise~ since I've been very accustomed to eating Korean food (back in Singapore, I would eat it at least 3-4 times a week).

The first was at Global Village on Thursday~ where our friends actually got food from this Korean restaurant called Maru which was at the Puerta del Sol area. I looked up the place on Google... and it seemed like a "sushi bar".

But looking at the photos, I think it was the Spanish way of saying samgyeopsal or kimbap was the Korean sushi. I wouldn't know for sure... but I'll likely find out the truth for myself sometime soon! I personally enjoyed the japchae I had during Global Village... and I'm certain there must be other items they especially specialize in!

The second time I ate Korean food was at Danny's place last night (Friday). He invited myself, Jungmin, Keunwoo, Scott, Ben and Daisuke. It took us a while to find his place but we were soon rewarded with a surprise the moment we arrived at his place. His wife cooked an amazing feast! I was so happy so see so much stuff!!

Yes! Danny' s wife made all this! It was a mega treat!!!
I was so full. I wanted to eat kimchi jjigae but I was bloated from everything that was served that night. It was awesome... I hope Sohyun can learn some tricks like these too (hint hint).

And of course, the third time was this lunch thing with Lydia. She and I ordered Dolsot bibimbap, pajeon and kalbi. We were so full after eating lunch... Somehow, I think we ate for 4 people haha... but it's okay. I'll just probably store the food in my stomach for dinner. I think I had my fair share of good food for the day. To compensate for things, we decided walk back to school (it was a leisurely 2.4km walk anyway). Along the way, we discovered a Japanese store. We bought some green tea mochi to cool us down~ considering that temperatures were already rising here in Madrid!

Dolsot Bibimbap and gochujang (I'm the secret sauce b***h)~ the perfect match! lol
I know a happy Lydia when I see one! In this case, it's because she's getting her Korean food fix!!!
There are still 2 more Korean restaurants I have yet to try here in Madrid. One is near Atocha station while the other is located near the Palacio Real. In both cases, I would like to try samgyetang / tangsuyuk~ two of my most favorite Korean dishes. But since I've had it for 3 days in a row, I'll give it a break first. Maybe in another week, hehe!

Los Palillos del Cardenal is located at Calle del Cardenal Cisneros, 49, 28010 Madrid, Spain. It's open every day from 1pm - 4pm for lunch and 8pm - 12mn for dinner. In our case, we went there at 12pm~ fortunately they were open at that hour!
